Original watercolor paintings inspired by nature, cherished memories, and the stories that connect us.
Meet the Artist
Jennifer O'Neill Carlson is a southeastern Minnesota watercolor artist whose work celebrates wildlife, beloved pets, rural landscapes, and the quiet beauty of everyday life. A retired high school mathematics teacher, Jennifer rediscovered a lifelong love of painting and has embraced it as both a creative passion and a source of joy.
Primarily self-taught, Jennifer has developed her skills through countless hours of observation, practice, and a genuine love of learning. She enjoys the challenge of capturing not only the appearance of her subjects but also the memories and emotions they represent. Whether painting a cherished family farm, a faithful companion, or a favorite landscape, her goal is to create artwork that tells a personal story.
Jennifer is especially known for her custom pet portraits and commissioned paintings. She enjoys working with clients to preserve the places, animals, and moments that have shaped their lives. Many of her paintings combine multiple photographs into a single meaningful composition, allowing families to celebrate memories that could never be captured in one photograph alone.
Living on a small acreage in southeastern Minnesota surrounded by woods, native wildflowers, ponds, and abundant wildlife, Jennifer draws constant inspiration from the landscape around her. Birds, wildflowers, forests, and the changing seasons frequently find their way into her work, reflecting her lifelong appreciation for nature and its quiet rhythms.
Jennifer believes the most meaningful paintings aren't just accurate—they tell a story. She hopes her paintings encourage people to slow down, notice the beauty around them, and reconnect with the people, animals, and places that matter most. Every painting is created with the hope that it will become more than just artwork—it will become a treasured memory for years to come.
